# 2.2 Defining the exploration route

Having a licensed team to work in the abyss is the key to different possibilities of exploration, each one promising many adventures and rewards.

{% hint style="info" %}
**During your journey on Down Below, you will be able to:**

●      Descend for your first of many **PVE adventures**;

●      Perform automatic explorations with your extra teams (**Idle PVE**);

● Face battles in the Abyss Arena against other teams (**PVP**).
{% endhint %}

In order to know when to choose between each game mode, you should read the *Guidelines for Exploration of the Abyss*, written and regulated by the SIA – but don't worry about further formalities, we have already separated the most interesting excerpts as follows.

> **Article 1:** about PVE mode – *Player Versus Environment*
>
> § 1 – There are basically two ways to explore the Abyss: instructing your expedition to go alone (*idle mode*) or guiding your team on its way down (*adventure mode*).
>
> **If you choose *****idle mode*****:**
>
> ⮚ You'll be able to delegate an exploration to all your teams (if you have more than one) in real time, receiving a report with the result of the expedition.
>
> **If you choose *****adventure mode*****:**
>
> ⮚ When you manually lead your team, the chance of getting a bigger reward increases. You’ll receive a map to help you in your descent, being responsible for directing your team through the most convenient path – so be prepared for the many dangers that surround the Abyss.

{% hint style="danger" %}
**If your party fails** **idle or adventure** PVE mode, you'll come back empty-handed, losing everything you've earned during the expedition.
{% endhint %}

> **Article 2:** about PVP mode – *Player Versus Player*
>
> § 1 – For the experienced ones who wish to participate in the island's competition events, tickets can be purchased for the Abyss Arena with the standard currency or a secondary reward currency called *Elven Silver* ($ES), a formerly local currency that can still be found in the Abyss.

> **Article 3:** about the weekly events
>
> § 1 – Whenever a player receives a reward, a portion will be in $ES. This currency can be used in two situations: to acquire tickets for the Abyss Arena (which cannot be sold or exchanged, but only used in this modality); or to be traded with a smuggler to obtain $ABYSS, which can be done only once a week.
>
> § 2 – Another weekly event will be the *Abyss Challenge* – a duel against a boss that you'll have a chance to face. If you win, you'll receive a reward, and must wait until the next season of the event to get the chance to participate again

Now that you know the different paths you can take, it’s time to focus on your main objective: **the rewards of the Abyss**.
